History – UBC Baseball Indoor Training Centre

The $4 million dollar state of the art UBC Baseball Indoor Training Centre was opened in September 2015.  It was built to offer a high performance training area for the UBC Varsity Baseball Team.  With its design, it also services large groups of the baseball community from across BC.  Our youth programming and Thunderbird Baseball Performance Institute offer boys and girls the opportunity to train year round in a comfortable environment.  We have a formal agreement in place with Baseball BC as their official indoor training centre for programming and identification.

What sets the building apart from anything else you will find is the technology in the building.  This technology is used for purposes that include an enjoyable player experience, a resource for our coaches in player evaluation and identification, and the “fun factor”.  The video wall, 3 HitTrax systems, and camera systems cost over $250,000 and truly make the UBC Baseball Indoor Training Centre a very unique experience
