Thunderbird Stadium Field Update

Thunderbird Stadium is looking brand new! The field has been updated just in time for the upcoming school year where it will be home to UBC varsity football, soccer, and many other recreational programs.

Start date of project: May 10
End date: June 25

The new hybrid monofilament, slit film turf is stitched with the Thunderbirds logo at centre, with permanent blue coloured end zones. The field also has stitched lines for both soccer and football.

UBC Football Academic Centre Update

The new learning facility for the Varsity Football team opened October 2015. With support from the University, learning will not only happen on the field but off the field as well. This Centre will aid in bringing academics to the forefront of the football team and help recruit future prospects for the football organization. Sitting adjacent to Thunderbird Stadium, players now have a space all their own to focus on school as much as they focus on their sport. Through the generous donations given to UBC Football Academic Centre leads the UBC’s start an evolution campaign, “the most ambitious fundraising and alumni engagement campaign in Canadian university history.”

UBC Football Academic Centre Construction Underway

In conjunction to Thunderbird Stadium renovations, the $1.1 million Academic Centre began construction as of Spring 2015. The Centre will aid in the academic development of the Varsity football team and provide a new space for achieving academic excellence. This 1,800 square foot facility is the first of its kind in Canada, enabling current and future varsity football athletes to excel both on and off the field.
