UBC Athletics & Recreation have secured a $3.5 million donation to construct a new baseball training facility in Thunderbird Park. The proposed 12,000 square foot facility will be developed in order to deliver a much improved training environment to support high performance baseball (UBC Varsity), as well as amateur baseball and other sport groups. The facility will house:
- batting cages,
- pitching training facility,
- functional training spaces,
- washrooms/change rooms,
- and coaches and staff offices.
The project design and construction will be managed by UBC Properties Trust with construction expected to begin in early 2015.

Nobel Park Softball Field Upgrades
A development permit application has been received by Campus and Community Planning for renovations to the softball diamond at Nobel Park for use by the UBC Women’s Varsity Softball team as well as the community. Proposed improvements include upgrades to the field surface and fencing, new covered dugouts, bullpens, safety netting and space for temporary bleachers and washroom facilities.
