Thunderbird Stadium underwent a renovation to its lighting infrastructure in the spring of 2014, with 68 new 1500W Metal Halide fixtures replacing the existing Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium system. The new system will provide 50 horizontal foot candles of illumination, while reducing energy consumption by 86,000 kWh per year. Not only does the lighting project increase the Stadium’s energy efficiency, it also enhances spectator experience within the facility and is of higher quality than the previous system. This project was completed with assistance from Western Economic Diversification Canada and BC Hydro.
Completion date: July 2014
