History – UBC Aquatic Centre

The UBC Aquatic Centre currently features an indoor 50-metre pool. Measuring 50 feet wide and 165 feet long, the open-air section was completed in 1954 to provide for the swimming and diving events of the British Empire Games. The outdoor pool closed April 2014. The indoor aquatic complex, completed in 1978, includes the main pool of unique design which embodies eight 50-metre lanes, eight 25-metre lanes and six 25-yards lanes, a five-metre diving platform, as well as one-metre and three-metre diving boards.
